Security is top of mind to all parties who buy or do business on the Web. In order for the online marketplace to thrive, visitors need to be assured that their sensitive data is well protected.

LivePerson has implemented a multi-tiered, multi-layer security approach, using the best industry standards for network and service security, as adopted by leading financial institutions and online businesses.

Secure Chat Sessions

LivePerson secures all data throughout the live chat process. Chat sessions are encrypted with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) V3 using a VeriSign certificate to ensure the authenticity of LivePerson’s servers to both parties.

All communication takes place via common browsers. Visitors do not need to install any software on their PCs, eliminating the risk of viruses or spyware.

LivePerson’s live chat, email and click-to-call services have been HACKER SAFE certified by ScanAlert, which tests and certifies LivePerson’s servers daily to adhere to the strict PCI (Payment Card Industry) Data Security Standards.

All LivePerson chat buttons and dialogue windows prominently display the HACKER SAFE mark, giving consumers confidence in the security of their transactions and communications.

Privacy

All information LivePerson handles is considered private and protected by the highest level of security. LivePerson does not store non-public information in its databases. Any information a LivePerson customer marks private goes through a masking algorithm (i.e., Credit card number 1234 becomes ####), and once transferred to LivePerson, is no longer available in its original format.

Encryption

LivePerson uses an encryption mechanism within the chat application to prevent unauthorized use of any data. The mechanism employs the highly secure Triple DES (TDES) encryption algorithm, which has gone through extensive penetration testing.

Network Security

LivePerson’s network and communications infrastructure is protected by the highest level of security and control. LivePerson’s Network Operations Center (NOC) monitors all network activity on a 24/7 basis.

All traffic must pass through multiple layers of network firewalls for screening. Access list controls and a proprietary security application protect LivePerson’s servers.
